day 5 July 2, 2010
We got an early start to the day and met Alicia and her kids and Sammy, my nephew for breakfast. It was at a place that doubles as a breakfast place in am and italian place in pm.
Food was pretty good, although the waitress forgot some of our food, and the kids got tired of waiting, so we did alot of sharing. It was ok with us, you could see the very young waitress was very flustered. We found out later, she was the owners daughter and had to fill in because mom chipped her tooth...
Alicia took us to Steamboat Lake and we started to let the kids swim at the beach and a storm hit and we sat it out in the van and truck. so we opted for going to a pavilion for lunch. By that time things cleared off and we were able to try our hands at fishing... No luck, but the kids had a ball wading.
went back to the hotel for clean clothes and went back to Alicia's house and got to finally see my big brother Robbie, and his wife Cindy. It has been 4 years, so I was so glad to get one of his big bear hugs. We all had a wonderful visit, while the kids played outside.
Later in the evening after they went home, Alicia, Allen (her husband) and kids took us to a pond and we went fishing again. This time, it went better, Jacob caught two rainbow trout, Anna caught one and Al caught one... Best of all we all had a blast...
Kids didn't eat much today, so when we got back to hotel, I gave them supplements and ordered a late snack of Dominos pizza. We watched Paul Blart, Mall Cop, and they only made it 15 minutes into the movie when they were all sound asleep....
Another wonderful day on our journey,,,,Night All

Day 4 July 1, 2010
Ate a quick breakfast on the road,,, protein bars and bottles of milk for the kids, coffee, of course, for me...
Anxious now to get out of Kansas. Not to offend anyone, but Dorothy, why did you want to come back?
Kids and I are listening to the unabridged book on CD of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
It really helps the time go by... It has been a great love of mine, driving and listening to books on CD as I travel.
We got into Denver around 1pm and as we approached the city you could see the outline of the mountains beyond.
It was definitely time for a break, so we grabbed lunch at Denny's.
It was very exciting to be starting a new path, a new outlook. The mountains as always, show me that if anyone doubts God, they should be in this beautiful land and see the amazing beauty.
The kids were really curious and kept pointing out differences, such as the amazing amount of pine trees and lack of any other kind. They also noticed that a great many of them were dead.
I explained that the pine beetle was killing off the west's pine trees... It is really quite sad.
We thoroughly enjoyed out trip from Denver to Steamboat Springs. We loved seeing all of the amazingly huge houses, perched in the mountains.
We checked into our hotel, and my niece, Alicia and her two sweeties, Josh and Alaina came to see us and we enjoyed a walk along the river that lays directly behind our hotel, The Ironhorse Inn. The misquitos finally chased us indoors and we visited for a few hours in our hotel room.
It will be so nice to stay put for a few days and enjoy being with family.
